Description [Juzu] Juzu is the Buddhist rosary which has 108 main beads representing 108 worldly sins. People hold the rosaries over their joined hands as they recite invocations. In addition to the 108 Omodama(main beads), there are also Oyadama(big beads) and Tendama(small beads). This is "Irataka nenju" used by mountain ascetics and mountain ascetics who perform rigorous ascetic practices in the steep sacred mountains of various regions of Japan. It is made of Shoume (plum) wood, which has a natural color and gives a feeling of warmth of wood. Shoume is characterized by its shiny brown color, and the more you use it, the more it will fit comfortably in your hand and change its color with taste. Shugenja (ascetic practitioners) rub these beads, which are shaped like abacus balls, together to make a sound when praying or reading sutras. It is said that the sound made by rubbing the beads together is meant to destroy evil spirits and troubles. Recently, it is often carried by ordinary people as an amulet to ward off bad luck and misfortune when climbing mountains. The tassel is a beautiful and supple Kyoto-made pure silk flower Brahma tassel with an image of a lotus flower. It comes with a tag of Kyoto Bead Manufacturing Wholesalers Association, which only traditional "Kyo-nenju" are allowed to put on. It is a gem tailored by the master craftsman of Kyoto.
